Who is FoldStack? A letter from the founder

July 3, 2026

Greetings! My name is Dan and I built FoldStack. And I built it for people who want to run a wash, dry, fold laundry business primarily out of their home. My wife and I originally started with one of the larger national services and did not appreciate the business model so we decided to go independent but did not find an ideal tool for the operations. So I built FoldStack!

My background is in IT, along with a decade of customer service experience. I have held a long belief that no matter where I work, I'm in the people business. It feels like some of the larger laundry platforms don't share the same sentiment. They take a large percentage of your work, have you pay for gas and all the supplies, and continue to build their brand. That's why with FoldStack, I am dedicated to charging a flat fee. The customers are yours. The revenue is all yours.

I, like you, have spent a lot of time and energy into building something others will find valuable. And I, like you, will sometimes make mistakes but will do my best to make it right with you. FoldStack is currently a team of one so please be patient with me if you reach out. I'm the one doing the building, the fixing, the marketing, the sales, customer support. You may know what that's like. lol!

So if you do end up using FoldStack and let other laundry processors know about it, thank you. I truly hope this product makes your life easier and helps you grow your business.

— Dan

Do you really take 0% of orders? What's the catch?
No catch. FoldStack's only revenue is the flat monthly subscription. You keep 100% of every order, every tip, every subscription payment. The only third party that touches the money is Stripe, the card processor — accepting credit cards costs money no matter what software you run on, and Stripe's standard 2.9% + 30¢ comes out of the customer's charge. None of it goes to FoldStack.
How is this different from the big national platforms?
The national platforms treat you as a contractor: they own the brand, the customer relationship, and the pricing. They take 25–35% of every order you fulfill. FoldStack flips that — you are the business, your customers download your app, and they pay you directly. We are software you rent, not a marketplace that rents you out.
How long does it take to set up?
Setup doesn't take long. Sign up, upload your logo, set your rates, add your service area zip codes, connect Stripe, share your registration link. That's it. The trial gives you 30 days to test it before you pay anything.
What happens if I go over my monthly order cap?
We let you know as you get close. Once you hit the cap, new orders are paused until you upgrade or the new month starts. Every order — including pre-pickup cancellations — counts the same way, on every plan. You can downgrade later if a slow month happens; downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing cycle so you keep the higher cap until then.
Can my customers really download an app with my logo on it?
Your customers download the FoldStack app from the App Store or Google Play — but the moment they sign in to your business, it's all yours. Your business name appears throughout, your logo sits in the header and on the welcome screen, and your brand color paints the buttons and accents. The one thing that still says "FoldStack" is the listing in the app store itself — dedicated store builds published under your own name are on our roadmap.
What about taxes and bookkeeping?
Your Stripe account collects the revenue directly, so you'll have Stripe's standard reports, plus FoldStack's CSV export covering orders, mileage, and revenue — everything your accountant or bookkeeping software needs from the laundry side. Mileage is logged every time you run a route. FoldStack isn't accounting or tax software, and nothing here is tax advice — for filing, lean on your accountant.
Can I leave FoldStack and take my customers with me?
Yes. Your relationship with your customers is yours, not ours. FoldStack exports orders, mileage, and revenue totals as CSV at any time. Your Stripe account is your own — every payout you've received and its full history stay with you whether or not you keep using FoldStack. Saved cards live in FoldStack's payment system, so on a new platform your customers would simply save their card again. For a complete customer-contact list export (name, email, phone, address), email support@foldstack.app and we'll generate one for you at no cost. We win when you stay because the product earns it, not because you're locked in.
What if I'm not technical?
The product is built for laundry operators, not engineers. There are no servers to run, no integrations to wire up, no code to write. If you can use a phone and read a Stripe dashboard, you can run FoldStack.
